I am not well-acquainted with the narrative works of Moebius. Still, I’ve been captivated by the illustrations that keep popping up in online meanders. In particular, I was struck by his soothing-yet-unsettling pastels. Moebius’ line work and color palate are deeply indebted to Winston McCay’s Little Nemo, but take that aesthetic into strange futures. The softly-hued weirdness also bring to mind the wonderful, proggy fantasia Les Planet Sauvage. Who knew dystopia could be so gentle on the eyes?

Please enjoy my latest Soft Scientist release, Dream Foam. Inspired by the film Wings of Desire (hence the nod to Nick Cave), a years-long desire to open a mix with Carl Orff’s Gassenhauer and the subconscious. Think: tinkling sounds, chilled sheets and night thoughts drifting like snow.
